Is it possible to meet with a personal injury solicitor face-to-face or is everything online now?

We are always pleased to see clients face-to-face at our office in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport and we routinely visit clients in their own home, particularly when clients have mobility issues. If you have questions about communication preferences, please read the Q&A below.

For background – LLB Solicitors is a personal injury law firm based in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. Unlike many modern law firms that operate entirely online, we maintain a local office where clients can meet their solicitor face-to-face if they prefer.

Why does it seem that every law firm is online now?

We hear you. In the distant past, clients would approach a local firm on their high street, or in a neighbouring town and they would get to know their solicitor in person. Over time, as law firms have specialised, the ‘solicitor-client’ relationship has slowly shifted and most personal injury claims were conducted via the post and over the telephone. Then email changed everything, and most clients now prefer electronic communications, which are faster, cheaper often more convenient. And in more recent years, there has been a big shift away from face-to-face meetings in favour of video conferencing using platforms like Zoom or MS Teams. Many firms have taken the decision to close their physical offices and their staff now work entirely from their homes. This means it is not always possible to pop in and speak to your solicitor in person.

Further, it is now possible for clients to verify their ID online, to complete online questionnaires and to sign documents electronically. Even settlement money is now often paid via bank transfers rather than cheques. At LLB Solicitors we have embraced all these technological developments but, unlike many of our competitors, we have never done so at the expense of clients who prefer more traditional methods of communication.

Where are you based?

We are based in Cheadle Hulme, which is a few miles outside Stockport (this is in Cheshire (SK8) or Greater Manchester depending on who you believe!).

So do you still offer face-to-face meetings?

Yes. We have actively maintained our offices in Stockport (Cheadle Hulme) so we can continue to meet with clients in person whenever that is their preference. If you prefer a traditional service, we will happily:

 – Correspond with you entirely via the postal service.

 – Provide you with pre-paid return envelopes for all paperwork.

 – Issue your final compensation settlement via a physical cheque rather than a bank transfer.

 – Assign a single, dedicated solicitor to your case from start to finish, providing you with their direct-dial telephone number.

Will I be a nuisance if request a more traditional, personal service?

Absolutely not. In fact, our solicitors all genuinely enjoy meeting our clients in person. Whenever possible, we do ask clients to make an appointment rather than just turning up unannounced as this allows us to make sure everybody gets the most out of the meeting.

Instructing a personal injury solicitor is an important decision and cases often touch on extremely sensitive and life-changing issues. It is important that you are completely comfortable with your choice of solicitor and we always encourage prospective clients to ask any questions that are on their minds. We are very experienced in these matters and we can put your mind at rest.

Will my case take longer if I can’t deal with electronic communications?

Your case might take a little bit longer due to delays in the mail versus email etc, but this isn’t going to have a significant impact on your case. Indeed, often when we meet clients face-to-face it speeds things up because when we meet, we can really get a full understanding of your case and are able to complete many tasks in one meeting – this can be quicker than going back and forth over email.

What areas of the country do you cover?

We represent clients nationwide across England and Wales (not Scotland, which has a different legal system to England and Wales).

Do you do home and hospital visits?

Yes. We represent many seriously injured clients who live all across England and Wales. Our solicitors will visit these clients in person in their home or in hospital, as needed. Likewise, for clients with mobility issues or who prefer not to use electronic communications we can arrange home visits. It is very important to us that the public are able to access expert legal representation regardless of geography or communication preferences/limitations and we will do our very best to meet your needs.

Do I need to choose between traditional communication methods or newer electronic communication?

No. We can mix and match as your case proceeds. Whatever suits you best at any given time during your case.

Do you have parking at your Cheadle Hulme office?

Yes. We can provide you with a free allocated parking space for the duration of your visit. If you are driving to our office, your solicitor will provide you with directions and a simple map showing you how to access the car park.

Conclusion

If you have suffered an injury and are looking for a solicitor to represent you please contact us and we will do our utmost to accommodate your preferred style of communication. If you want to come and see us in person, please give us a call to make an appointment and we will put the kettle on and look forward to meeting you.
